Abstract
Writing assistants use persistent preferences to personalize responses, but these can conflict with the current request. Responses can meet every requirement yet serve the task poorly, while task failures need not involve following a conflicting preference. We introduce Profile Conflict Arbitration (PCA-Bench), a benchmark of 64 rewriting tasks and 256 task-preference pairs. We construct these pairs by varying the profile preference for each fixed text and request, covering different relations between the preference and the request. We assess whether responses meet requirements, how well they achieve the request's goals, and whether they follow preferences. Across three LLMs, we find that when preferences compete with task goals, a higher success rate in meeting both requirements and preferences does not mean better responses: it can come with a greater quality loss compared with responses without a profile. Similar rates of preference following do not imply the same ability to meet the current task's requirements when preferences conflict with them.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The perception of the impact of agile methods is predominantly positive, and several challenge areas were discovered, but based on this study, agile methods are here to stay.

AI agents can generate code at a scale that’s hard for humans to review line-by-line. PDD Kit helps ensure the code is doing what the developer intended by creating formal specifications and testing against them. It converts developer intent into a Verus specification, proves AI-generated code meets it for every input, and uses tests where proofs aren't practical. Developers review intent, not every line.
