Sep 2026 · Liaquat National Journal of Cancer Care · 0 citations

Abstract

Ovarian cancer is the commonest reported gynecological malignancy of the female genital tract in Pakistan and is considered one of the lethal cancers. Though the epithelial variety remains the major contributor, a small proportion arises from unusual histological entities including lymphoid malignancies. Diffuse Large B- cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), a subtype of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, is one of the rarest occurring tumors in the female genital tract. Here, we report a case of Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) of ovarian origin in a 67-year-old lady who presented to us with the complaint of pelvic pain and had a history of breast cancer in the past. She underwent surgery followed by chemotherapy. Histopathology revealed atypical lymphocytes, and Immunohistochemical markers confirmed the diagnosis of DLBCL of ovarian origin. She is currently under follow-up at a Hematology and Oncology clinic and is disease-free after 3 years of surveillance. This case is unique and highlights the importance of histopathological and immunohistochemical evaluation of unusual tumors. Once diagnosed, these tumors require a multidisciplinary team approach, in which the radiologist, hematologist, and oncologist play key roles alongside the gynecological oncologist.
