EFFECTIVE METHODS AND TECHNIQUES FOR TEACHING VOCABULARY IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM

Abstract

This article examines the teaching of English vocabulary, emphasizing its importance for developing speaking skills and overall language proficiency. The authors identify the main types of vocabulary exercises: preparatory, illustrative, review-summarizing, and creative, describing their functions and implementation methods. Particular attention is paid to the use of visual aids, game elements, and creative approaches that make learning more motivating and effective. They emphasize the need for a comprehensive use of various methods, a combination of traditional and modern technologies, and the creation of conditions for active language practice and student motivation. The authors make conclusion that vocabulary learning occupies a central place in the educational process of learning English. It is aimed at expanding students’ vocabulary, acquiring skills in using lexical units in specific communicative situations, and effectively using the language in general. Understanding and fluency in a wide range of words provides the base for successful communication, both oral and written.
