Abstract

AbstractThis paper investigates the optimization of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) efficiency for grid-tied photovoltaic systems by developing a Finite Voltage Set Model Predictive Control (FVS-MPC) strategy based on a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) with an adaptive step-size. A hybrid control structure (Fuzzy-FVS-MPC) is designed to overcome the limitations of conventional linear controllers. The fuzzy logic controller is integrated to automatically calculate and continuously adjust the voltage prediction step size of the FVS-MPC, in response to instantaneous variations in the power flow from the PV array. The mathematical model and control structure are simulated and evaluated using the MATLAB/Simulink platform. The results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed solution in dynamic response, achieving a settling time of under 0.1 seconds under severe irradiance changes, which is 29% faster than traditional methods. Furthermore, in the steady state, the proposed strategy ensures a tracking efficiency of over 98.9% and completely eliminates harmful power oscillations. Keywords: Maximum power point tracking, predictive control model, finite voltage set, fuzzy logic controller, grid-tied System.
