Abstract
Programmable network data planes enable limited in-network computation, but most prior work has focused on narrow primitives or small-scale prototypes. This paper demonstrates real-time processing of high-dimensional image streams at near-terabit rates on the FABRIC testbed using programmable switches. We design a lightweight rare phenomena detection mechanism that computes payload-consistent fingerprints using a hybrid neutralized-TCP checksum technique compatible with P4 switch pipeline constraints. The system is implemented on an Intel Tofino switch and evaluated across the FABRIC terabit core ring using distributed traffic generators. Our results demonstrate reliable detection of payload changes and sustained 755 Gbps in-network fingerprinting throughput. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of payload-consistent fingerprinting implemented entirely within a programmable switch pipeline and evaluated at multi-100 Gbps scale on a wide-area experimental infrastructure.
TCP-SYN port scanning often precedes cyber-attacks, and early detection of scanner fingerprints embedded in packet headers can provide timely intrusion alerts. Existing approaches are either too computationally expensive for line-rate operation or limited to offline analysis. This brief presents a lightweight FPGA arch...

Modern AI workloads increasingly rely on scale across architectures that interconnect multiple datacenters to form a single"AI factory", overcoming the power and cooling constraints of individual sites. However, extending Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) across wide area networks (WANs) introduces fundamental challen...

This paper presents our experiences in deploying YU, Alibaba’s in-house traffic load verification system for wide area networks (WAN), in data center networks (DCN). We encounter two key challenges: the opaque ISP challenge, where the opaque nature of the configurations of peering ISPs results in low accuracy of inter-...

In data networks carrying large numbers of flows, Heavy Hitters (HHs) or Elephant flows are the flows exceeding pre-determined thresholds (e.g. number of packets or bytes) in a given time window. Such HH flows need to be handled differently in order to minimize their impact on other smaller flows. HH detection techniqu...
