Abstract
US dominance in AI was simply assumed for the US to have a place in the 21st-century economy, and thus, it must spearhead this transformative technology. Yet, for all the hype, the road to using AI is a bumpy one. In this article, we cover the science, data stewardship, business, ethical duty, regulatory compliance, change management, and financial obligations surrounding the complex challenge for organisations keen to bring AI-based solutions to market. Based on a systematic review of best-practice literature, emerging industry case studies, and empirical research, the results provide a conceptual framework to overcome barriers and strategically guide the uptake of sustainable, responsible, and value-based AI in business.
