Comparative genomic analyses demonstrate that the structural organization of A. gongshanensis chloroplast genome is conserved with other Artocarpus species andPhylogenetic reconstruction based on chloroplast genome data strongly supports that A. gongshanensis forms a sister clade with A. hypargyreus.

Abstract

Abstract The chloroplast genome of Artocarpus gongshanensis S. K. Wu ex C. Y. Wu & S. S. Chang 1989, a threatened species endemic to China, was sequenced for the first time using Illumina NovaSeq 6000. The complete chloroplast genome assembly reveals a quadripartite structure with a total length of 160,174 bp, consisting of a large single-copy (LSC) region (89,311 bp) and a small single-copy (SSC) region (19,489 bp), separated by two inverted repeat (IR) regions (25,687 bp each). Phylogenetic reconstruction based on chloroplast genome data strongly supports that A. gongshanensis forms a sister clade with A. hypargyreus. Comparative genomic analyses demonstrate that the structural organization of A. gongshanensis chloroplast genome is conserved with other Artocarpus species. This newly characterized chloroplast genome provides critical molecular data for resolving taxonomic uncertainties within the genus and establishing evidence-based conservation measures for this threatened plant.

The Complete Chloroplast Genome of Dioscorea hypoglauca: Comparative Genomics and Phylogenetic Insights

ABSTRACT The complete chloroplast genome of Dioscorea hypoglauca—a medicinal plant native to southern China—was assembled and characterized. The genome is circular, 153,219 bp in length, and follows the typical quadripartite organization: a large single‐copy (LSC) region of 83,692 bp, a small single‐copy (SSC) region o...

The complete chloroplast genome of Heterostemma pingtaoi (Apocynaceae)

Abstract Heterostemma pingtaoi, a species endemic to Hainan Island, China, was discovered and formally described in the family Apocynaceae in 2010. However, genetic and evolutionary information on the genus Heterostemma remains poorly understood. Here, we report the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of H. pingt...

THE COMPLETE CHLOROPLAST GENOME OF A MEDICINAL PLANT, Inula grandis (Asteraceae)

The genus Inula (Asteraceae) includes numerous medicinally important species, but phylogenetic relationships within the Inula complex remain difficult to resolve using morphological characters alone. In this study, we assembled and annotated the complete chloroplast genome of Inula grandis using Illumina paired-end seq...

The complete chloroplast genome of Epimedium grandiflorum C.Morren 1834 (Berberidaceae), a medicinal plant endemic to Japan

Abstract Epimedium grandiflorum C.Morren 1834 is a herbaceous perennial medicinal plant native to Japan. Here, we sequenced and assembled its first complete chloroplast genome. The chloroplast genome is 157,151 bp with a total GC content of 38.7%, containing a large single-copy region (89,464 bp), a small single-copy r...
