Abstract
Dual-mode probes integrating colorimetric and fluorescent responses allow the rapid, accurate, and on-site detection of Cu²⁺. Here in, the synthesized TPA-B-Me consists of BODIPY core structure and thiosemicarbazide moiety, which exhibited good sensitivity to solvent polarity and viscosity, yet a low fluorescence quantum yield (0.48%) due to the photo-induced electron transfer (PET). The Cu²⁺ complexation decreased the absorption peak of TPA-B-Me at 552 nm and disrupted the PET to significantly enhance the fluorescence peak at 572 nm. The H-aggregation by TPA-B-Me-Cu2+ chelates emerged a new absorption peak at 492 nm and emitted a new fluorescence peak at 510 nm. Therefore, TPA-B-Me served as a colorimetric and enhanced fluorescent dual-mode probe for Cu²⁺ detection. Under the colorimetric and fluorescent modes, the limits of detection in PBS and Tris system were 0.369 µM and 0.605 µM, 0.011 µM and 0.078 µM, respectively. Moreover, in real water and soil samples, the fluorescent mode achieved spiked recoveries of 94.1%-108.8% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) of 1.4%-7.3%.
A novel barbiturate-naphthyl-picolinate conjugate as a fluorescent probe for the selective detection of Cu2+ in an aqueous media and was successfully employed for fluorescence imaging of intracellular Cu2+ in living 4 T1 cells, indicating its potential utility for biological sensing and bioimaging applications.

Thermochromic fluorescent materials have significant application prospects in the field of temperature sensing. In this study, based on the donor–acceptor–donor (D-A-D) strategy, two fluorescent molecules, MPT-1 and MPT-2, with fluorenyl cores and methoxy phenothiazine as donors, were synthesized via the Buchwald–Hartw...

Developing an Aggregation-Induced Emission Enhancement (AIEE) type probe with enhanced emission through metal ion-induced methods has been a significant challenge. In this work, we synthesized an AIEE fluorescent chemosensor P1 via a Schiff base reaction by 8-hydroxyquinoline-2-carbaldehyde and 2,4-difluorophenylhydraz...

BONR, a newly developed fluorescent probe, was prepared through the fusion of bisphenol A, dicyanoisophorone, and Rhodamine ethylenediamine. This probe enables the specific detection of Fe3+ ions, resulting in a synergistic enhancement of both its spectral properties and practical application. In an EtOH/HEPES (1:1, v/...

Two new chemodosimeters (SA2-Ind and SA2-Thio) were designed and synthesised by coupling Bisthiophene carboxaldehyde fluorophore with the two different electron-withdrawing salt cores. The developed probes exhibited instantaneous, remarkable colour and fluorescence changes selectively with CN- over other anions. The nu...

This study presents a dual-detection fluorescent probe MCC-DMQ toward both bisulfite and viscosity by strategically conjugating quinolinium salt as an electronic acceptor and 6-methoxychromene as an electronic donor linked through an exocyclic ethylene bridge to form the typical D-π-A conjugated system. The ethylene br...
