TL;DR

The study concludes that the choice between React.js and Vue.js should be determined by the project's scale, functional requirements, the development team's technical expertise, and the product's long-term development strategy.

Abstract

The selection of JavaScript-based libraries and frameworks for modern web application development has a direct impact on software performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability. This paper presents a comparative analysis of React.js and Vue.js, two widely used technologies in front-end development. The aim of the study is to evaluate these two approaches not only in terms of syntax and popularity but also with respect to architectural principles, component model, reactivity mechanisms, Virtual DOM implementation, performance, server-side rendering (SSR), ecosystem maturity, tooling support, and long-term maintainability. The research is based on a comparative analysis of the official technical documentation for React.js and Vue.js, as well as scholarly publications indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The findings indicate that React.js stands out due to its extensive ecosystem, architectural flexibility, and suitability for complex, largescale applications. In contrast, Vue.js offers an integrated reactivity system, a gentler learning curve, comprehensive official tooling, and lower initial complexity, making it an effective solution for smalland medium-sized projects. The study concludes that the choice between React.js and Vue.js should be determined by the project's scale, functional requirements, the development team's technical expertise, and the product's long-term development strategy.

Performance Comparison of Next.js (SSR) and React (CSR) under Dynamic Loading Strategies

While JavaScript front-end frameworks are becoming increasingly popular, literature lacks empirical studies examining how framework choice, application complexity, and optimization strategy interact to determine runtime performance. This study compares Next.js and React across four dynamic loading strategies (Code Spli...

Design and Evaluation of TechLedger for Software Service Discovery and Comparison

TechLedger is a web application for discovering, researching, saving, and comparing software services. It addresses a practical problem in technology selection: information about capabilities, releases, and pricing is spread across vendor sites, and users must keep their own shortlist while reviewing it. The applicatio...

CC4M: Code Clone Analysis and Visualization for Microservices

Microservice architecture supports software evolution by decomposing a system into small, loosely coupled services that can be deployed independently. Contrary to the expectation of high modularity, prior studies have reported that code clones exist across service boundaries, some of which are co-modified in the same v...

Continuous Integration and Software Quality in Scientific Software: A Large-Scale Empirical Analysis of GitHub Repositories

Bioinformatics software plays a central role in biological research, yet many academic projects lack robust testing and continuous integration (CI) practices. This absence can compromise reproducibility, accessibility, and long-term maintainability. In this study, we conduct an large-scale empirical analysis of GitHub...

An automated, model-driven of software engineering, approach to the development of single page applications

Single Page Applications (SPA) are the modern trend in web applications. Compared to multipage applications, SPAs load an entire web application once and only change parts of the page on every subsequent load. While studies exist on the auto-generation of code specifically using the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) appr...

PL4SA: Optimized Partial Library Selection for Efficient Static Analysis

With the rapid advancements in modern software engineering practices, software applications have become increasingly dependent on external libraries, making the choice between whole-program and application-only analysis more critical: the former often leads to timeouts due to high computational overhead, while the latt...
