Abstract

Comprendia is an Eclipse plugin that integrates structural dependency visualization with LLM-powered code explanation on a shared interactive graph for Java program comprehension. The tool rests on four pillars: (1) a multi-edge-type dependency graph with live search and multiple layouts; (2) LLM explanations grounded in Graph-Aware Callee Pruning (GACP), an auditable strategy that selects relevant callees using the same graph the developer navigates; (3) a clone-detection overlay that highlights duplication and suggests extract-to-parent refactoring opportunities; and (4) a CVE risk overlay powered by OSV.dev. GACP uses graph distance, inheritance collapse, and edge-type weighting to produce prompts that are reproducible across LLM families and traceable to visible graph nodes. We demonstrate Comprendia on a Java project containing known clones and vulnerabilities, showing how the unified graph substrate supports comprehension while keeping the developer in control. Pattern-Guided Static Analysis for APIfication of COBOL Monoliths

Legacy COBOL mainframes resist APIfication due to monolithic structure and scattered logic. We present a novel pipeline that takes code blocks selected and validated by the user, potentially with AI-assisted boundary suggestions, and generates compilable API modules with request/response copybooks. Key innovations incl...

IChart2Code: Benchmarking Multimodal Large Language Models for Interactive Chart Code Generation

Interactive chart code generation requires models to reproduce a reference chart's appearance and underlying data and correctly implement the state changes triggered by specified user interactions. Existing chart-to-code benchmarks focus on static outputs and lack task representations or evaluation protocols for intera...

Traceable RAG for Legacy COBOL Comprehension: Integrating Architectural and Semantic Analysis

Understanding undocumented COBOL applications is a major challenge in legacy system modernization. We present a locally deployed open-source RAG pipeline that combines architectural and semantic program analysis to support traceable LLM-based question answering about the full legacy codebase. The extracted information...
