Abstract
Digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping supply chain management (SCM), yet existing research remains fragmented across technologies, outcomes and contextual factors. This study systematically synthesises the literature to examine the impacts, drivers and barriers of digital transformation in supply chains and to develop an integrative framework that explains how these elements interact. Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic literature review of 768 peer-reviewed articles published between 2016 and 2025 was conducted using qualitative synthesis supported by descriptive analysis and concept-driven categorisation. The findings identify competitive pressure, globalisation, customer expectations and sustainability imperatives as dominant drivers of digital transformation, while technological complexity, organisational resistance, resource constraints and strategic misalignment emerge as critical barriers. Overall, digital transformation is shown to enhance supply chain efficiency, agility, resilience and environmental sustainability. Building on these insights, the study proposes a conceptual framework that maps the relationships among drivers, moderating factors and performance outcomes. By integrating drivers, moderators and outcomes into a unified model, this review advances theoretical understanding and offers actionable guidance for practitioners, while delineating key avenues for future research on digital supply chain innovation.
Supply chains increasingly face complex disruptions and rapid technological change, making the relationship between digital transformation (DT) and supply chain resilience (SCR) an important issue in supply chain management. Yet existing evidence remains fragmented across forms of DT, dimensions of SCR, contextual conditions, and performance outcomes. This study conducts a systematic review and meta-analysis of 200 studies, including 124 examining the DT-SCR relationship and 104 examining the SCR–performance relationship. The results show that DT is positively associated with SCR, with stronger associations for digital capabilities than digital technologies and for reactive than proactive SCR. The DT-SCR association is also stronger among SMEs and mature firms, in manufacturing sectors and developing countries, and in contexts characterized by high power distance, low individualism, and stronger long-term orientation, while uncertainty avoidance shows no significant moderating effect. SCR is positively associated with firm performance, with stronger associations for operational and market performance than financial performance. By integrating evidence on the antecedents, boundary conditions, and performance consequences of SCR, this study provides a more differentiated and context-sensitive understanding of the role of DT in supply chain resilience.

Purpose: This paper develops a unified conceptual framework that bridges ten thematic domains of contemporary supply chain management in response to the fragmentation of existing scholarly frameworks.
Methodology: Drawing on a systematic review of Scopus-indexed scholarship published between 2018 and 2025, the paper employs the Contextual Innovation Performance Model (CIPM), originally developed by Sambiri (2022, 2024), as the theoretical architecture through which interdependencies among domains are examined.
Findings: The analysis reveals that resilience, sustainability, and digital innovation have ceased to operate as separate strategic agendas and have instead converged into a single, indivisible performance imperative.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The CIPM Supply Chain Management Framework provides a theoretically grounded and practically actionable integrative architecture for researchers and practitioners, generating four testable research propositions and offering guidance for organisations seeking to build supply chains capable of generating sustained competitive and social value under conditions of persistent uncertainty.

This paper addresses the limited theory-driven understanding of how Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies can be effectively adopted to enhance responsiveness in operations and supply chain management (OSCM), particularly in terms of flexibility and agility. Drawing on a systematic literature review structured through the context–intervention–mechanism–outcome (CIMO) logic, this paper develops a conceptual framework that integrates the diffusion of innovation (DOI) and dynamic capabilities (DC) theories. This framework conceptualises digital transformation as a cumulative learning process and introduces engagement as a supporting capability that links sensing, seizing, and transforming. A 14-step roadmap translates the framework into actionable steps for practice, and both the framework and roadmap were validated through expert focus groups to ensure applicability. This paper contributes to the theory by clarifying how DOI and DC jointly explain digital transformation in OSCM by providing structured guidance for orchestrating technology adoption and enhancing responsiveness.

Background: As supply chains undergo rapid transformation, the concept of supply chain viability (SCV) has gained increasing attention among scholars and industry practitioners. Despite this growing interest, the existing literature lacks a comprehensive and integrated understanding of readiness factors across SCV dimensions. Methods: To address this gap, this study conducted a systematic review of the literature. A total of 86 peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025 were included, synthesizing evidence across four SCV dimensions: agility, resilience, sustainability, and digitalization. Two-mode network representation was used to analyze cross-dimensional connections between readiness factors and SCV dimensions via degree centrality. Results: The analysis identified 36 readiness factors, 9 of which are cross-dimensional and connected to all four SCV dimensions: leadership and decision-making, stakeholder integration, customer relationship and engagement, partner collaboration and readiness, advanced analytics, technological/digital capabilities, real-time data visibility, information and communication technology infrastructure availability, and digital transformation/smart technologies in supply chain management. Conclusions: Readiness factors vary across SCV dimensions, with some spanning multiple dimensions and others remaining specific. SCV strategies should account for these differences rather than treating factors as uniform.
Key findings show that organisational readiness and maturity are decisive predictors of transformation success, while leadership commitment, cultural alignment, and business process management act as crucial enablers.

Digital technologies are widely expected to reshape supply chains, yet the conditions under which they deliver operational and sustainability-related value in practice remain insufficiently understood. This study examines how digital technologies influence supply chain operations and performance, where performance is operationalized through demand forecasting accuracy, cost, lead time, visibility, and inter-organizational collaboration, and asks how these technologies can support more resilient, resource-efficient, and sustainable supply chain operations. The study adopts an exploratory qualitative design based on semi-structured interviews with eight supply chain professionals at manager level or above, drawn from the aluminum, elevator, railway, food, and consumer goods industries in Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, and conducted between March and June 2025. A structured literature review complements the interview evidence. Within this exploratory sample, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics were the most widely adopted technologies (five of eight participants each), followed by the Internet of Things (four of eight) and Automation (five of eight), while no participant reported active Blockchain deployment. Reported benefits concentrated on forecasting accuracy, operational efficiency, visibility, and collaboration, whereas high implementation costs, legacy system integration, skill shortages, and regulatory uncertainty formed the principal barriers. The central finding is a conditional relationship between adoption and competitiveness: internal operational gains did not automatically translate into competitive advantage among the professionals interviewed, but appeared to require strategic alignment, cross-functional integration, and performance measurement. Because digitally enabled forecasting, inventory positioning, and resource optimization also reduce waste and improve resource utilization, the findings link digital supply chain transformation to sustainable development objectives. This exploratory study of eight participants therefore provides practitioner-level propositions and a research agenda for digital and sustainable supply chain transformation rather than statistically generalizable findings.
