The power system industry has prioritized the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) into distribution systems (DS) in order to fulfil the rising demand for power while also tackling the mounting technical and environmental issues. But it is important to properly install DERs like solar panels, gas turbines and capacitor banks into the DS. If this is not the case, the most important considerations will revolve around the technical parts, including power quality, stability, reliability, and voltage management. This research takes into account the efficient integration of DERs into the DS through simulations performed on the IEEE-69118 Bus system. By combining the Puma optimization algorithm with the Dragonfly algorithm optimization, we can optimise power loss (PLoss), operational cost and emissions separately. Results in tackling difficult optimization issues have been encouraging for the proposed effort. Several parameters are considered in this methodology including the voltage stability index (VSI), voltage fluctuations, operational costs, emissions and PLoss reduction minimization in an effort to optimize the size and placement of DERs in DS. The results of the simulation show that the proposed PO-based optimization can reduce the active power loss up to 89.7% with respect to the base case at the maximum. The VSI is improved from 0.6822 to 0.9056 and minimum voltage profile is increased from 0.909 p.u. to 0.9755 p.u. Besides, the proposed method greatly reduces the operational cost and emission indicating its effectiveness for efficient microgrid energy management.
Loss minimisation in power transmission systems remains a crucial objective for ensuring operational efficiency, economic sustainability, and power quality in modern electric grids. Transmission losses not only result in substantial energy waste and increased operational costs but also contribute to voltage instability...
