This study examined the factors affecting the clinical competencies of newly hired nurses in selected hospitals in Quezon City and their relationship with competency levels. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data from 50 newly hired nurses were analyzed through descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. Findings showed that nurses demonstrated a very high level of clinical competence (WM = 4.21), with workplace and organizational factors strongly influencing competency development (WM = 4.41). Confidence, resource availability, adequate staffing, and support from senior nurses were identified as key contributors. A significant positive relationship was found between workplace factors and clinical competency (r = 0.49, p = 0.006), highlighting the importance of structured orientation, mentorship, and continuous learning programs in strengthening nurses’ skills and improving patient care

This study examined nurses' use of digital health technologies and its association with patient care outcomes in a private hospital in Quezon City. It investigated the level of technology integration and use in healthcare, including electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, digital tools, and health applications, and assessed their relationships with patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and service efficiency. Data were collected from nurses using a structured survey questionnaire and analyzed through quantitative descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and tests of difference. The research also examines nurses’ attitudes towards digital health applications, the difficulties they face during adoption, and the determinants of their effectiveness. Three interconnected theories are adopted to build a conceptual framework. Technology Competency of Caring in Nursing Theory by Locsin, the Science of Caring Theory by Jean Watson, and the Role Adaptation Mode. These theories support the study of how digital health applications help nurses improve patient care outcomes. The findings revealed that the respondents generally demonstrated a high level of technology utilization in healthcare settings. The study shows that the use and integration of digital health technologies are highly correlated with improved quality of care in a private hospital in Quezon City. The respondents showed a high degree of acceptance and use of various forms of digital health technologies such as electronic health records, telehealth platforms, digital devices, and health apps. The study has identified a significant effect of nurses' use of digital health applications on patient improvement, patient satisfaction, and service efficiency. The study is limited to a specific time frame and geographical area, which may limit the generalizability of the results to other healthcare settings with varying technological infrastructure or policies. In spite of these limitations, the research offers significant insights into the role of nurses in utilizing digital health applications to enhance patient care and efficiency of the healthcare system. It is highly recommended that any future research on the use of digital technologies in healthcare address other variables, such as organizational culture, leadership support, technological readiness, and nurses' attitudes towards digital innovation. This study aims to provide empirical evidence to support improvements in nursing practice, digital health integration, healthcare policies, and patient care delivery in healthcare institutions.

Faculty shortages have become a significant concern in nursing education, potentially affecting the quality of instruction and students’ learning experiences. This study aimed to assess the quality of nursing education among students in a selected institution in Iloilo City in relation to faculty shortages and to determine whether demographic variables influence students’ perceptions. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed. A total of 60 nursing students from Level II to Level IV were selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered using a validated researcher-made questionnaire consisting of demographic profile and perception indicators, and were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson correlation. Findings revealed that faculty shortages have a high impact on nursing education, particularly in clinical exposure, academic guidance, instructional quality, and learning environment. Students reported limited supervision, reduced mentoring, and decreased access to faculty support. Despite these challenges, results showed no significant relationship between demographic variables and students’ perceptions, indicating that the effects of faculty shortages are experienced consistently across different groups. The study concludes that faculty shortages significantly affect the overall quality of nursing education. These findings highlight the need for institutional interventions such as faculty recruitment, improved workload management, and enhanced academic support systems to ensure effective teaching and learning outcomes.

In community health nursing, interdisciplinary collaboration is essential because it improves communication, teamwork, and the provision of comprehensive care. However, issues such as inadequate integration of interprofessional education, institutional limitations, and a lack of formalized platforms for collaboration persist, especially in community-based settings. As a foundation for improving policies and programs, this study sought to assess the extent of multidisciplinary collaboration between nursing students and healthcare professionals and to investigate its association with perceived efficacy in achieving community health goals. A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational research design was used. Purposive sampling was used to gather information from nursing students assigned to a barangay health clinic in Tagum City. Interprofessional collaboration and perceived efficacy were measured using standardized tools, specifically the Community Care Competency Scale (CCCS) and the Assessment of Interprofessional Team Collaboration Scale (AITCS). To examine the data and identify correlations between variables, statistical techniques such as the mean and Pearson correlation were used. The findings showed a very high degree of interdisciplinary interaction, coordination, and partnership. In a similar vein, participants showed a high degree of perceived efficacy in achieving community health objectives. Additionally, the results showed a positive correlation between perceived efficacy and interdisciplinary collaboration, indicating that more effective collaboration is associated with greater perceived efficacy in community health outcomes. To improve healthcare delivery in community settings, our findings highlight the need to strengthen collaborative behaviors through structured programs, policy support, communication training, and curriculum.
