Mechanisms underlying propagation of ferroptotic cell death

Emerging evidence for non-cell-autonomous propagation of ferroptotic cell death is discussed and the mechanisms that underlie its restriction in tissues are highlighted, as well as ferroptosis surveillance beyond the cellular level.
