Abstract

Simple Summary Non-living microbial products called postbiotics have the potential to improve health without raising the same safety issues as live probiotics. The effects of varying Saccharomyces cerevisiae postbiotic levels in the diet of Nile tilapia over 60 days were evaluated for growth, feed utilization, gene expression, and disease resistance in this study after being fed 0, 1.25, 2.5, or 5 g/kg. It was found that dietary supplementation with 5 g/kg of S. cerevisiae postbiotic for a 60-day feeding period significantly improved Nile tilapia weight gain, specific growth, and feed conversion ratio. It improved serum biochemical parameters and modulated the expression levels of the liver, spleen, and intestine with a significant decrease in the susceptibility of Nile tilapia to Fusarium oxysporum infection. Overall, the dietary S. cerevisiae postbiotic enhanced growth and disease resistance in Nile tilapia.

Evaluating functional effects of dietary phytogenic product supplementation in Nile Tilapia through performance, immunity, gene expression, and resistance to Flavobacterium oreochromis.

OBJECTIVE Phytogenics, which are plant-derived compounds, are increasingly gaining importance in aquaculture as sustainable and natural feed additives that support the performance and health of cultured fish. The current study evaluated the effects of dietary phytogenic supplementation in Nile Tilapia Oreochromis nilot...

Effect of dietary Solanum nigrum on growth, immunity, and disease resistance against Aeromonas hydrophila infection in Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822) fingerlings

Solanum nigrum leaf meal (SNLM) could be a promising phytobiotic with growth and immunomodulatory effects in aquaculture species. Phytochemical profiling revealed a diverse composition of bioactive constituents, which includes flavonoids, phenolic acids, terpenoids, amino acids, minerals, and vitamins. Further, a...

Dietary Folic Acid Modulates Growth Performance, Expression of Antioxidant- and Immune-Related Genes, and Response to Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease in Pacific White Shrimp (Penaeus vannamei)

This study evaluated the effects of dietary folic acid supplementation on growth performance, antioxidant- and immune-related gene expression, and the response to acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) in Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei). Juveniles (12 shrimp per tank; four replicate tanks per treatment...
