Abstract

We have implemented the recent extension of the string+${}^3P_0$ model of spin-dependent hadronization that includes the production of spin-$1/2$ baryons in the Pythia event generator for the simulation of deep inelastic scattering (DIS). The implementation in Pythia is performed by extending the StringSpinner package, which is then used to study the spontaneous polarization of $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ hyperons produced in the current and target fragmentation regions in DIS with an unpolarized proton target. We find a large spontaneous polarization for $\Lambda$s in the target fragmentation region, calling for the measurement of such observable that can shed light on the quark spin dependence of hadronization.

Nuclear Deep Inelastic Scattering around $x=0.3$

Deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) data on nuclei, from deuterium to lead, indicate that nuclear effects on the partonic structure of bound nucleons are remarkably small around $x=0.3$, where valence-quark distributions peak. We present the results of a global analysis of DIS data on the cross-section ratios $\sigma^A/\si...

Saturation effects in diffractive deep inelastic scattering

We study the production of $c$ and $b$ quarks in photon-induced processes as a probe of gluon saturation, with a focus on the high-energy region accessible in ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs) at the LHC. We compare predictions for inclusive and diffractive heavy quark production with and without saturation effects by...

Statistical Inference of Scattering Parameters for Exotic Hadronic States in the $J/\psi\,p$ Spectrum

We present a global two-channel Flatt\'e amplitude analysis of the hidden-charm pentaquark candidates observed by the LHCb collaboration in the J/{\psi}p invariant-mass spectrum using the Run 1+2 dataset. We simultaneously fit the three pentaquark amplitudes to the full spectrum, including a polynomial background and c...

Onset of gluon saturation through incoherent J/$\psi$ production at large $|t|$

In this contribution we predict the possibility of detecting signatures of the long-sought saturation in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions at currently accessible energies of the LHC. To probe these effects, we study incoherent vector meson production, which is sensitive to fluctuations in the partonic structure of...

Toponium Production at Future Muon Colliders and in heavy ion ultraperipheral collisions

In the framework of non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD), we systematically investigate the inclusive and exclusive production processes of spin-singlet \(^1S_0\) and spin-triplet \(^3S_1\) toponium at future muon colliders and in Pb--Pb ultraperipheral collisions (Pb--Pb UPC). Using the Coulomb-plus-linear...

Hadronization effects and electroweak contributions in DIS one-jettiness

We study the structure of leading hadronization effects and the contributions of massive electroweak gauge boson exchange in the $\tau_1$ and $\tau_{1a}$ 1-Jettiness global event shapes for deep inelastic scattering (DIS). The leading hadronization effects in $\tau_1$ acquire a non-trivial dependence on the hard scatte...
