Abstract
Climate change impacts are more severe and frequent in countries vulnerable to climate. Evidence indicates that Nature-based solutions (NbS) are widely used as cost-effective and sustainable adaptation strategies; however, their effectiveness varies across ecological, institutional, and socio-economic contexts. Our understanding of NbS for agricultural climate adaptation remains limited. This study systematically reviews the role of NbS in agricultural adaptation using PRISMA guidelines. Using keywords such as “NbS,” “climate adaptation,” and “agriculture,” along with their synonyms, a total of 2696 related papers in Scopus were identified. After applying relevant filters, 1740 articles were selected. During screening, 301 studies were relevant to the objectives, and after full review, 21 articles were finalized for inclusion. The methodology across these studies is diverse, including empirical methods, choice experiments, spatial modelling, policy reviews, and household surveys. The study uses VOSviewer software for network analysis, revealing several interconnected factors related to NbS for agricultural adaptation. In the word cloud analysis, key terms such as “farmer,” “agriculture,” and “practices” emerge as important. This research finds that approaches such as agroforestry, Eco-based adaptation, natural flood management, and climate-resilient crops are most frequently examined. The evidence shows that NbS are particularly effective for small farmers; therefore, they should be prioritized. However, NbS face governance and financing challenges. To address these issues, public–private partnerships involving NGOs, NPOs, and NbS should be developed and implemented in consultation with stakeholders. Finally, the review highlights several research gaps and limitations.
Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) has become an important strategy for improving agricultural productivity, strengthening climate resilience, and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases across African countries. This article provides a systematic review of 32 peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2026, conducte...

Nature-based solutions (NbS), including ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA), are increasingly proposed for climate action in African cities, but the evidence base is fragmented and lacks systematic synthesis of what is being implemented, where, and how effectively. We analysed 112 studies retained from a systematic revi...

Climate change and its impacts have escalated in recent decades, and its effects have been felt throughout the globe, making it a global concern and a major issue of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 (climate action), which calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. In response to th...

Nature‐based solutions (NbS) have emerged as a promising strategy for agricultural systems to mitigate and adapt to climate change. These include practices such as agroforestry, organic amendments, and conservation agriculture, which can provide several ecosystem services and benefits including enhanced soil health,...

As the impact of climate change becomes increasingly disruptive worldwide, the gap in adaptation finance is widening. Despite advancements in adaptation planning and implementation in every sector and region, the growing resource gap necessitates more ‘effective’ climate adaptation projects. Against this backdrop, the...
This study examines stakeholder perspectives on the strengths, limitations, and potential uses of a climate-driven agricultural land-suitability model developed to assess future crop suitability across British Columbia. The study contributes to understanding how such models can be used to support long-term agricult...
