Abstract
Wheat is a major staple crop and an important dietary source of protein, minerals and grain bioactives. Wheat genetic resources for nutritional improvement include landraces, primitive wheats, old cultivars, cultivars and breeding material; however, their value should be evaluated using measured genotype and trait information rather than inferred from germplasm origin alone. This study quantified free, bound and total phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity in Swedish wheat materials and integrated these data with existing mineral/elemental, carotenoid and tocol-related datasets from overlapping Swedish wheat genotypes. Bound phenolics represented the major phenolic fraction across the evaluated materials. The integrated comparisons indicated genotypic variation across the evaluated nutritional traits. Some old cultivars, including ‘Diamant brun’, ‘Atson’ and ‘Algot’, showed good combinations of several measured nutritional and selected food safety traits, whereas ‘Rauweizen’ was mainly associated with phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity. Overall, these results show that nutritional variation in Swedish wheat germplasm was related to genotype and trait group rather than to germplasm background alone.
Maize is the leading crop for silage production and a major energy source in animal diets globally. The production of low nutritional composition silage among livestock farmers is partly attributed to the absence of specialized stable silage tailored maize lines for hybrids development. There is scarcity of information...

Forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench), a climate-resilient, drought-tolerant fodder crop with high adaptability and biomass potential, plays a significant role in addressing global livestock feed and fodder demands. However, its complex quantitative quality traits, such as crude protein, fibre fractions, crude fat...

Purpose: Around the globe, wheat is a significant cereal crop, used for food, feed, and raw materials. The study’s main objective was to examine the diversity and variability of yield and its attributing traits among sixty (60) locally cultivated wheat genotypes of Bangladesh based on genetic analyses to formulate appr...

Sorghum [
Sorghum bicolor
(L.) Moench] is a vital cereal crop in dry regions worldwide. However, in sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA), grain yields from currently grown varieties remain low (< 1 ton/ha) and exhibit variable nutrient composition. Therefore, the objective of this study was to undertake a genetic analysi...
