This study identifies VlARO, a nuclear-localized gene from the highly resistant grapevine variety ‘Beta’, as a positive regulator of gray mold resistance and establishes the mechanism for VlARO in grapevine immunity by promoting guaijaverin accumulation.
The resistant mutant achieves rust resistance by strengthening physical defense through cell wall reinforcement and by enhancing chemical defense through the accumulation of antimicrobial metabolites, under the control of AP2/ERF members.

Multitranscriptome analyses demonstrated that BcARS2 positively regulates BcPDI1 and BcCGF1, two key genes responsible for reactive oxygen species (ROS) homeostasis and highly expressed during the IC developmental stage, which modulates the virulence of B. cinerea by regulating IC development, vegetative hyphal growth,...
Tomato gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea is a devastating disease in protected cultivation, and biological control using beneficial microorganisms offers a sustainable alternative to chemical fungicides. However, the synergistic effects and underlying mechanisms of combining Irpex lacteus with Bacillus velezensis ag...
