Sep 2026 · Revista de Estudos Interdisciplinares · Vol 25, pp. e4134 · 0 citations

TL;DR

It was found that technological innovation does not ensure educational equity on its own, in the face of inequalities related to access, connectivity, digital skills, accessibility, and infrastructure.

Abstract

Contemporary technological transformations have prompted significant changes in education, creating new possibilities for teaching, learning, and inclusion. In this context, this study analyzed the relationship between emerging technologies and educational equity, considering the potentialities and challenges of innovation for promoting inclusion in education. It is an integrative literature review conducted in the ERIC, SpringerLink, Latindex, Diadorim, and Miguilim databases, encompassing publications in Portuguese and English from 2021 to 2026. The results showed that digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovative educational resources can expand access to knowledge, diversify pedagogical strategies, and favor more flexible and personalized learning experiences. However, it was found that technological innovation does not ensure educational equity on its own, in the face of inequalities related to access, connectivity, digital skills, accessibility, and infrastructure. The importance of teacher training, pedagogical planning, and institutional policies was also highlighted. It is concluded that emerging technologies can strengthen inclusive education when guided by social justice, democratization of access, accessibility, and recognition of the different educational needs of students.
