Abstract
This study develops an improved state-space model for coflow jet (CFJ) airfoils by incorporating the jet momentum coefficient into the internal state-variable equation. The key contributions are summarized as follows. First, to quantitatively characterize flow separation characteristics of CFJ airfoils, steady and unsteady aerodynamic separation evaluation metrics

are mathematically formulated. These two indicators clarify the modulation laws of jet parameters on dynamic stall initiation, aerodynamic hysteresis morphology, and aerodynamic force recovery. Embedding the proposed separation metrics into the classic Goman state-space framework yields the improved CFJ-based state-space model. Second, 18 unknown parameters of the model are calibrated via a multistart quasi-global optimization strategy, where 20 random initial guesses are sampled within

values exceeded 0.95, and the model faithfully reproduced the evolutionary features of aerodynamic hysteresis loops. This study delivers a robust unsteady aerodynamic modeling tool for CFJ airfoil performance analysis and underpins the engineering implementation of active flow control for aircraft dynamic-load manipulation, overcoming the inherent drawback of conventional state-space models in describing how active jet control modulates dynamic-stall evolution.
Co-flow jet (CFJ) is an active flow-control technique with strong potential for lift enhancement, drag reduction, and separation suppression. However, the relative importance, influence directions, and aerodynamic mechanisms associated with CFJ geometric parameters remain insufficiently understood. In this study, Krigi...

The aim of this thesis is to investigate unsteady aerodynamic and aeroelastic instabilities in two distinct systems that share a common physical and methodological foundation: in both cases, an airflow interacts nonlinearly with a structure or with an internal geometry, producing instabilities that are difficult to pre...
Attached-flow unsteady aerodynamics underpin the dynamic stall models used in wind turbine aerodynamic and aeroelastic codes, particularly over the outboard blade region that dominates power production and loading. Here, angle of attack and relative velocity vary while the flow remains predominantly attached. A complet...
Blended-wing-body aircraft offer significant promise in future aircraft design due to improvements in aerodynamic efficiency and reduction in structural weight. At the same time, this unconventional configuration gives rise to complex aeroelastic interactions. A reduced-order stick model was calibrated through an optim...

Accurate prediction of unsteady separated flows is challenging because the aerodynamic loads depend on nonlinear separation and vortex-shedding dynamics. Although high-fidelity CFD resolves these mechanisms, its cost limits repeated use in design and control. Standard field-level surrogate training, however, does not d...
