TL;DR

It is shown that modern maize exhibits markedly greater salt tolerance than its wild progenitor, teosinte, and a domestication-selected CIPK20-MYB28-HAK4 module is uncovered that provides mechanistic insights into the evolutionary trajectory of salt tolerance, and identifies valuable targets for developing salt-resilient cultivars.

The R2R3-MYB transcription factor ScMYB20 negatively regulates drought and salt tolerance through a dual-repression of ScCHALCONE SYNTHASE-1 (ScCHS1)-mediated flavonoid biosynthesis in the desert moss Syntrichia caninervis.

A dual-repression module is defined (ScMYB20-ScTTG1-ScCHS1) that fine-tunes flavonoid flux under abiotic stress, and provide evolutionary and mechanistic insights into how R2R3-MYB repressors evolved to balance metabolic investment and stress survival in land plants.

Natural variation in TOLS1 modulates salt tolerance via OsRacB-Ca2+ signaling pathway in rice.

Salt stress severely limits rice productivity, yet the genetic basis of natural variation and the underlying mechanism remain poorly understood. Here, through genome-wide association analysis and fine-mapping, we identify a major quantitative trait locus (QTL) gene, Tolerance to Salt 1 (TOLS1), that negatively regulate...

OsERF5 enhances cold tolerance and is associated with GA‑mediated antioxidant defence in rice

This study demonstrates that OsERF5 positively regulates cold tolerance in rice and is associated with the GA‑mediated antioxidant defence system, providing both a genetic resource and a molecular framework for breeding cold‑tolerant varieties.

Converging GWAS and Genome Editing Decrypts MsCBF8‐ MsGolS2 Regulatory Module for Drought Tolerance Without Yield Penalty in Medicago sativa

ABSTRACT Drought constitutes a major abiotic stress limiting alfalfa productivity. To elucidate the genetic basis of drought tolerance, a genome‐wide association study (GWAS) was conducted in alfalfa, which identified a CBF/DREB1 family transcription factor designated MsCBF8. Utilizing an optimized CRISPR‐Cas9 system,...

Promoter variation of COG5 underlies subspecies divergence in rice chilling tolerance.

COG5, a major quantitative trait locus gene encoding the Mediator complex subunit Med21, is identified as a positive regulator of chilling tolerance in rice and natural variation in COG5 modulates the cold-responsive transcriptional network via Mediator-transcription factor interactions.
