THE EFFECT OF SCRAPBOOK MEDIA ON THIRD-GRADE STUDENTS' LEARNING OUTCOMES IN NATURAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES (IPAS) AT SD INPRES BATUA II MAKASSAR

Abstract

This study aims to determine third-grade students’ learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at SD Inpres Batua II before and after the use of Scrapbook media, and to examine whether there is a significant difference in learning outcomes following its implementation. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 36 third-grade students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using pretest and posttest measures, an observation sheet, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 53.75 increased to 77.78 on the posttest. The percentage of students who reached the minimum mastery criterion of 75 increased from 2.78% (1 student) to 80.56% (29 students). Because the posttest data were not normally distributed (Shapiro-Wilk Sig. = 0.043), the hypothesis was tested using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, which yielded Z = -5.262 and Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05. The N-Gain analysis produced a mean value of 0.513 (51.30%), classified as moderate. Observation results showed that teacher and student activities each reached 100%, while lesson implementation reached 94.12% in the first meeting and 100% in the second meeting. Therefore, there was a significant difference in third-grade students’ IPAS learning outcomes before and after the implementation of Scrapbook media
