Abstract

A common instructional method in Elementary reading lessons is interactive read-aloud, and its encouragement in language development and reading comprehension has been incrementally receiving notice from researchers. Nonetheless, the effect of interactive read-aloud on students’ learning motivations needs to be examined further. Consequently, this paper is about using interactive read-aloud in Elementary school reading teaching and its effects on the students in terms of their language development, reading comprehension, and reading motivation. The given article performs a thorough analysis of the process and the mechanism of reading-teaching based on the review of the appropriate research. The study demonstrates that interactive read-aloud can help students to learn vocabulary and sentence structures by means of context and influence their language learning. It improves inferential and reading comprehension of students as well by questioning and discussing. In addition, interactive read-aloud also enhances the participation and reading interest of the student because it connects with the students by interacting in class, creating emotional appeal, and respecting their culture. These increase the reading motivation of the students. Thus, interactive read-aloud is useful to students in their development of reading skills and plays a significant role in facilitating interest and reading learning enthusiasm.
