Abstract

Interpretations of the Triune God have generated various approaches and debates based on biblical, theological, historical, and systematic studies. Objections to the doctrine of the Trinity arise from various religious and philosophical traditions. Polytheism views it as belief in multiple deities, Islam considers it contrary to the principle of tawhid, Judaism regards it as different from Jewish monotheism, while Unitarianism maintains that God is a single person. These issues demonstrate the importance of an accurate understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity, which is often considered abstract and difficult to comprehend. This study aims to examine and affirm that the Triune God represents the absolute unity of God in three divine persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are eternal, distinguishable but inseparable, and mutually indwell one another through perichoresis. The three divine persons share the same will and purpose in the work of human salvation from the bondage of sin. This study employs a qualitative method through a literature review of theological literature and journals using a descriptive approach. The findings indicate that the Trinity is a theological concept that affirms God’s unity in the work of salvation. The doctrine does not imply contradiction within God but rather demonstrates divine harmony in the mission of salvation and helps Christians understand and live out divine life according to God’s will
