Transformational Leadership of School Principals in Improving School Quality
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the transformational leadership style of the principal in improving school quality at SD Negeri Balerejo. The study focuses on how transformational leadership practices are implemented through the dimensions of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration in supporting school improvement. This research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal and teachers of SD Negeri Balerejo. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the principal implements transformational leadership effectively by becoming a role model, developing a shared vision, motivating teachers, encouraging instructional innovation, and providing individual support for teacher professional development. These practices contribute to strengthening school culture, increasing teacher commitment, improving learning quality, and fostering a collaborative environment oriented toward continuous school improvement. This study concludes that transformational leadership plays a strategic role in enhancing school quality by empowering teachers and building a positive organizational culture. The findings highlight the importance of developing transformational leadership competencies among school principals to support sustainable educational improvement.
