Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly transforming educational practice, creating new opportunities and challenges for teachers. This study explored the professional development needs of secondary school physics teachers for effective AI integration in Kampala, Uganda. A qualitative descriptive research design was adopted, involving 22 purposively selected physics teachers with experience in digital technologies and awareness of AI applications. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. Six themes emerged: awareness and understanding of AI, current use of AI in physics teaching, barriers to AI adoption, required AI competencies, professional development priorities, and institutional support needs. The findings revealed that although teachers recognized the potential of AI to enhance lesson preparation, assessment, and conceptual understanding, they lacked adequate knowledge, practical skills, and institutional support for effective classroom implementation. Participants emphasized the need for continuous, practical, subject-specific professional development focusing on AI literacy, pedagogical integration, ethical considerations, and prompt engineering. The study concludes that effective AI integration requires coordinated investments in teacher capacity building, supportive institutional policies, technological infrastructure, and sustained professional learning opportunities.
GAOKAO-Bench is introduced, an intuitive benchmark that employs questions from the Chinese GAOKAO examination as test samples, including both subjective and objective questions that contribute a robust evaluation benchmark for future large language models and offers valuable insights into the advantages and limitations...

This work proposes a HALO that directly maximizes the utility of generations instead of maximizing the log-likelihood of preferences, and suggests that the best loss depends on the inductive biases most appropriate for a given setting, an oft-overlooked consideration.
This work investigates the possibilities of using LLMs in a resume screening setting via a document retrieval framework that simulates job candidate selection and finds that the MTEs are biased, significantly favoring White-associated names in 85% of cases and female-associated names in only 11.1% of cases.
This work shows that orders of magnitude enhancement in performance could be obtained by a combination of hardware improvements and tight quantum-HPC integration and introduces high-performance architectures for quantum-probabilistic computing with custom-designed accelerators to tackle today's industry-scale classical...
