Abstract

This dataset release provides the original confirmatory evidence and preregistered decision record for the first Experimental Block II study in the Theory of Everything Research Programme. The study was preregistered at OSF under DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/EUF2J before any held-out confirmatory population was executed. The release contains six provenance-valid confirmatory raw study trees generated from twenty held-out population seeds, including population trajectories, individual records, explicit lineage events, intervention records, seed registries, provenance metadata, processed metrics, Price-equation partitions, figures and machine-readable decision records. The preregistered decisions were RETAIN for H2.1 causal heredity, H2.2 inherited-trait effects on reproductive success, H2.3 selection-driven population change, H2.4 the fidelity–variation relation and H2.6 historically structured re-adaptation after environmental switching. H2.5 was explicitly DEFERRED because the implementation contains no second independently defensible reproducing unit. The higher-level reproduction–heredity transition and natural selection as an effective mechanism in this artificial ecology were both retained. The dataset also preserves an identifier-only archival repair to the machine-readable decision records and an independent analysis-reproduction check. No scientific metric, threshold, decision or interpretation was altered by that repair. This release is paired with the Block II software and reproducibility package (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.23236866) and implements the experimental framework described in Working Paper III (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.22857230). The result is restricted to the registered artificial ecology and does not establish the historical origin of biological reproduction, universal units of selection, evolutionary progress, life in every scientifically relevant sense, intelligence or consciousness.

Gender, Race, and Intersectional Bias in Resume Screening via Language Model Retrieval

This work investigates the possibilities of using LLMs in a resume screening setting via a document retrieval framework that simulates job candidate selection and finds that the MTEs are biased, significantly favoring White-associated names in 85% of cases and female-associated names in only 11.1% of cases.
