Abstract

Rat Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) Connectome DatasetThis dataset provides a literature-derived anatomical connectivity representation of the rat peripheral nervous system (PNS), including its interfaces with the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral target organs. It was compiled to support systematic graph-theoretical investigations of peripheral connectivity, recurrent neuronal pathways, and integrated CNS–PNS–body circuit architectures. The dataset is based on experimentally documented anatomical connections extracted from published tract-tracing studies and integrated into the neuroVIISAS neuroanatomical database. Anatomical structures are organized within a standardized hierarchical ontology encompassing peripheral sensory and autonomic ganglia, spinal and cranial neural interfaces, enteric structures, peripheral nerves, sensory systems, and visceral and somatic target tissues. Connections are represented as directed anatomical relationships between defined regions. The connectivity data provide the basis for constructing anatomical networks at different hierarchical levels and for investigating global and local network properties, modular organization, connectivity similarity, recurrent circuits, directed network motifs, regional importance, and structural network robustness. The dataset also supports comparisons with randomized surrogate networks and the identification of anatomical regions participating in specific local connectivity configurations. The deposited data are intended to facilitate reproducibility, independent computational analyses, and further investigation of peripheral nervous system organization. They may also serve as a structural reference for future computational models integrating neuronal connectivity with physiological and organ-level regulatory processes. The dataset accompanies the manuscript “Network analysis reveals recurrent circuit architectures linking the rat peripheral nervous system with central neural interfaces and peripheral targets.”

Less can be more for predicting properties with large language models

Abstract Predicting properties from coordinate–category data—sets of vectors paired with categorical information—is fundamental to computational science, manifesting in materials science as predicting formation energies or elastic moduli from crystal structures. While large language models (LLMs) have increasingly been...
