Multi-Node Wearable Monitoring and Feedback-Guided Gamified Training System for Frozen Shoulder Rehabilitation
Abstract
Wearable sensors enable shoulder rehabilitation training to be monitored continuously outside the hospital, and recent work has explored IMU-based motion tracking, biofeedback, gamified exercise, tele-rehabilitation, and physiological sensing. These approaches are rarely combined, however, into a single continuous home workflow. This paper presents an integrated wearable system for adhesive capsulitis rehabilitation that combines multi-segment IMU sensing on the trunk, upper arm, and forearm; closed-loop thermotherapy; MQTT-based cloud transmission; and Unity-based 2D and 3D training interfaces, with an analytics dashboard for clinician review. The system was evaluated in a pilot study, alongside reference data from participants, with daily ROM tracked against a normative reference range. The pilot demonstrates feasibility of the integrated workflow under home-use conditions.
