Abstract

Traditional teaching ward rounds are predominantly teacher-centered, with instructors delivering lectures while students passively receive information. This conventional approach often relies on a single teaching modality, resulting in limited knowledge retention, reduced learning efficiency, and suboptimal educational outcomes. To enhance the quality of clinical education in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this study proposes integrating artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced teaching methods into TCM paediatrics ward rounds to provide students with comprehensive, intuitive, interactive, and repeatable clinical learning experiences. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of AI-enhanced teaching ward rounds in TCM paediatrics, evaluate their educational effectiveness, and identify challenges encountered during implementation and potential strategies for addressing them. By integrating intelligent technologies into clinical teaching, the study seeks to establish a theoretical and practical foundation for the innovation and modernization of TCM medical education. The findings indicate that AI-enhanced teaching approaches can increase students’ learning engagement and motivation while improving knowledge acquisition and clinical practice skills. These approaches may therefore provide a valuable framework for reforming and optimizing TCM paediatrics teaching ward rounds, while offering new perspectives for the integration of emerging technologies into modern medical education.
