Occupational Health and Safety in Workplaces
Abstract
Innovation for Safer Industrial Workplaces Discover BRISA (Breakthrough Research on Industrial Safety Against Airborne Carcinogens and Emerging Pollutants), a Horizon Europe-funded research and innovation project working to improve air quality, reduce exposure to hazardous airborne substances and protect workers in energy-intensive industries. This brochure introduces BRISA's objectives, approach, industrial pilot sites and expected impact. It explains how the project combines scientific research, safer materials and processes, smart monitoring technologies, AI-supported forecasting and practical worker protection measures to create safer and more sustainable industrial workplaces. Bringing together 17 organisations from 8 countries over 48 months, BRISA will develop, test and validate integrated solutions across five industrial pilot sites covering: Ceramics Foundry Mineral fillers and masterbatch production End-of-life tyre recycling Plastics recycling The brochure also highlights BRISA's commitment to Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles, real-world industrial validation and the wider adoption of effective solutions for managing airborne pollutants.
