Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a compound used in food contact materials that has gained importance due to its endocrine-disrupting effects. In this study, BPA levels were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detector (HPLC-FLD) method in a total of 56 canned food samples (33 tuna - Group I; 13 other fish - Group II; 10 meat-chicken-turkey - Group III) belonging to 23 different companies purchased from supermarkets and online sales platforms across Türkiye. Consumer exposure and potential public health risk were also evaluated. Mean BPA levels were determined as 12.44±2.34 μg/kg (<LOD-51.94), 15.50±10.08 μg/kg (<LOQ-130.51) and 11.23±6.62 μg/kg (0.54-69.61) in Group I, II and III, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups and plain and oil- or sauce-packed (p>0.05). Sex-specific estimated daily intake values ranged from 0.0033-0.0052 μg/kg body weight/day and exceeded the current tolerable daily intake in all groups. In conclusion, it has been determined that BPA is commonly found in the canned foods examined and that exposure from these products should be considered for public health reasons.
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an important environmental contaminant with documented adverse effects on both human and animal health. The present study provides the first assessment of BPA concentrations in the hair of stray cats inhabiting a highly urbanized and industrialized environment. Utilizing liquid chromatography–mass...

Parabens are synthetic preservatives added to food products to extend shelf life by suppressing microbial growth in consumer products. Their application in food manufacturing is common, particularly in beverages, seasonings, canned products and snack items. However, parabens are classified as endocrine-disrupting chemi...

Heavy metals are toxic environmental pollutants that can enter the human body through the food chain and cause serious health risks. This study determined the concentrations of Pb, Cd, Cr, Zn, and Hg in canned fish, meat, and cheese products sold in Erbil, Iraq, using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (FAAS). Non-ca...

This study evaluated dietary exposure and cancer risk associated with aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in 90 edible vegetable oil samples (olive, corn, and sunflower) collected from Tehran, Iran. AFB1 concentrations were measured using HPLC-FLD, and risk was assessed through Estimated Daily Intake (EDI), Margin of Exposure (MOE),...
