Abstract
This document explains that Michael T. Dent, M.D.’s research process is driven by interdisciplinary conceptual synthesis across biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, and philosophy, with original ideas and hypotheses developed first and then tested against established theory, prior research, mathematics, and observation. AI, principally ChatGPT, is used as an analytical and research-assistance tool to help formalize concepts, identify relevant equations and prior work, perform calculations, test assumptions, and determine whether proposed ideas are compatible with existing knowledge or generate potentially novel predictions. The document emphasizes that AI does not originate the core conceptual frameworks; rather, it supports their evaluation and refinement. Mathematical or theoretical structures found to have established precedent are acknowledged as such, while the potential originality of the work lies in the interdisciplinary connections and conceptual architectures proposed. Ultimately, the validity and significance of each theory remain subject to literature review, independent mathematical verification, peer review, and empirical testing.
The method, ECCOLA, is presented, which aims at making the high-level AI ethics principles more practical, making it possible for developers to more easily implement them in practice.
