Abstract
We consider nonlinear optimal control problems with distinct time delays in the state and its derivative. Using an exterior penalty method, we approximate the problem by unconstrained delayed variational problems and prove that their minimisers converge strongly to an optimal solution of the original problem under natural assumptions. A weaker convergence result holds in the affine–convex case. The approach is illustrated with engineering and control applications.
In non-autonomous time-optimal control problems the question of the sufficiency of the maximum principle is considered. We also briefly discuss the question of uniqueness of optimal control. New conditions are obtained that guarantee the sufficiency of the maximum principle in terms of convex analysis, properties of ma...

In this paper, we study optimal control problems for stochastic semilinear partial differential equations, which lack the maximum principle, and whose coefficients do not have bounded Frechet derivatives. We propose an approximation scheme for the corresponding optimization problem, and prove convergence of the approxi...

This paper presents a finite-time stabilization method for the integrator chain via optimal control techniques by introducing a tailored cost function. We analyze key properties of the resulting value function to derive the corresponding Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. Numerical simulations illustrate the effectivene...
In this article, we study an optimal control problem associated with a nonlinear hyperbolic equation, including cubic polynomial nonlinearity and homogeneous Neumann conditions. Starting from an integral functional dependent on the initial data and the right-hand side of the equation, we establish the necessary condit...

Parametric optimal control problems for semilinear parabolic equations are considered. Using recent Lipschitz stability results for solutions of such problems, it is shown that, under standard coercivity conditions, the solutions are Bouligand differentiable (in

We propose a discrete-time feedback linearization control approach to solve nonsmooth linearly constrained composite optimization problems. By using proximal operators, we construct a dynamical system whose equilibria correspond to the stationary points of the optimization problem. Interpreting the Lagrange multipliers...
