Abstract
This paper outlines the rationale of the InclusiVR@Work project, which is designed to promote inclusive workplace cultures in which people with disabilities are actively valued and respected, and could contribute meaningfully with their skills and expertise. To achieve this goal, the project adopted a wholistic approach and developed a dedicated toolkit of three complementary tools. These include empathy-driven immersive experiences that highlight everyday barriers faced by individuals with disabilities in the workplace; massive open online courses (MOOCs), which provide theoretical training on disability inclusion, accessibility principles; and inclusive organizational practices complemented by and a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program focused on guiding on how to translate principles of accessibility and inclusion into concrete organizational policies and everyday practices. These tools are designed to enhance empathy and understanding of the barriers faced by people with disabilities, while promoting reflection on inclusive practices and the implementation of reasonable accommodations. Preliminary insights demonstrate promise in supporting the development of inclusive workplaces where people with disabilities have equitable opportunities to access employment, succeed in their roles, and thrive professionally.
