ABSTRACT This study investigates the flexural behavior of normal concrete (CC) and geopolymer concrete (GPC) incorporating industrial by-products and nano-reinforcements. Two GPC mixes were tested: GC1 (22% fly ash + 72% GGBS + 6% biochar + 0.4% nano cellulose fibers, hot curing) and GC2 (same composition with 0.6% nano cellulose fibers, ambient curing). Experimental static load tests evaluated load–deflection response, ductility, and energy absorption, while ANSYS FEA simulations validated the results. Results demonstrate that GPC beams exhibit higher stiffness, ductility, and energy absorption than CC, with GC1 achieving the maximum energy absorption (1,222 kN·mm) and ductility improvement. The enhanced performance arises from the synergistic effects of fly ash, GGBS, biochar, and nano cellulose fibers, which promote internal curing, matrix densification, and crack bridging. FEA predictions closely matched experiments (<2% error), confirming the reliability of computational modeling. Overall, GPC provides a durable, high-performance, and sustainable alternative to OPC concrete, suitable for flexural members in structural and infrastructure applications demanding enhanced toughness and resilience.
The present study investigates the bond strength and flexural behavior Of Geopolymer-based Reinforced Concrete (GPRC) beams to assess their suitability as sustainable alternatives to conventional concrete structures. To promote the valorization of red mud (RM), a high-volume industrial solid waste, engineered geopolymer composites (EGC) were developed using a ternary binder comprising ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS), fly ash (FA), and RM. Ten mixtures were designed using a simplex-centroid method, and the effects of bin...

The use of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) offers a sustainable solution for construction; however, its structural performance is often limited by weak interfacial transition zones (ITZ), increased porosity, and brittle failure behaviour. To address these limitations, the present study investigates the effectiveness...
With the rapid development of green and low‐carbon construction materials, engineering geopolymer composites (EGCs), characterized by high strength, superior toughness, and excellent durability, have attracted increasing attention. However, achieving a synergistic enhancement of both strength and ductility in EGCs...

Self-compacting geopolymer concrete (SCGC) is a sustainable alternative to ordinary Portland cement (OPC)-based concrete because it combines the environmental benefits of geopolymer binders with the superior workability of self-compacting concrete. This study investigated the effects of the water-to-binder (W/B) ratio,...
This study evaluates wood‐derived cellulose nanocrystals (WCNCs), produced via non‐conventional processes, as nano‐reinforcement in normal‐strength concrete with a fixed mixed design. Physical properties, water absorption, and microstructure were examined for reference and WCNC‐modified concretes. Optimal WCNC dosage...
