TL;DR

This study aimed to demonstrate the oxidative damage induced by DOX in liver tissue at the biochemical, histological, and molecular levels and to evaluate the protective effects of Montelukast (ML) on this damage.

Abstract

Aim: Despite its antineoplastic effect, doxorubicin (DOX) causes significant oxidative stress and cellular damage in the liver. This study aimed to demonstrate the oxidative damage induced by DOX in liver tissue at the biochemical, histological, and molecular levels and to evaluate the protective effects of Montelukast (ML) on this damage. Material Method: To further evaluate the oxidative stress induced by DOX in liver tissue, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities, reduced glutathione (GSH) levels, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were analyzed (p

Olea europaea leaf extract mitigates doxorubicin-induced hepatotoxicity associated with modulation of oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis: Integrated biochemical, molecular, and histopathological evidence.

BACKGROUND Doxorubicin (DOX) is an effective antineoplastic agent whose clinical use is limited by hepatotoxicity. This study evaluated the hepatoprotective effects of Olea europaea leaf extract (OLE) in a rat model of DOX -induced hepatotoxicity. METHODS Thirty-two male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to four gro...

Protective Effects of Esculetin at two Different Doses on Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Fibrotic Changes in AlCl₃-Induced Cardiotoxicity in Rats

AlCl₃ exposure led to increased MDA levels and decreased GSH levels, with reduced SOD and CAT activities in heart tissue, which led to increased MDA levels and decreased GSH levels, with reduced SOD and CAT activities in heart tissue.

Saroglitazar protects against cadmium-induced hepatorenal injury in rats by suppressing NF-κB and upregulating Nrf2

Introduction Cadmium (Cd) toxicity is one of the major public health problems because of its long half-life (10–30 years). Exposure to Cd can cause toxicity that affects several organs, including the liver and the kidney. Saroglitazar is highlighted in this study as a potential preventative medication against hepatic-r...
