Abstract
This letter presents a geometric path planner for semi-rigid formations of Ackermann-steered vehicles. Differential flatness separates geometric feasibility from the timing law, while fixed Cartesian offsets allow every follower path to be reconstructed from one leader path. A leader–follower curvature relation, valid wherever the follower path is regular, shows how follower steering depends on leader curvature, its spatial variation, and formation geometry. The relation yields explicit leader-level sufficient conditions and a continuous polynomial certificate for formation-wide steering feasibility. The underlying geometry is realized with an intrinsic curvature-profile transcription and a Cartesian flat-output B-spline transcription, while retaining formation-wide separating-hyperplane obstacle avoidance. Experiments on a five-vehicle alternating-baffle corridor and a three-vehicle U-turn, together with controlled ablations, show near-limit follower steering in the corridor and more accepted intrinsic returns in the U-turn under the tested settings. Sequential timings quantify computation for the accepted runs, and dense post-solve checks report overlaps and clearance.
Planning collision-free paths for unmanned aerial vehicles in cluttered three-dimensional environments requires balancing path length, smoothness, and consistency across repeated queries. However, existing bidirectional RRT* planners generally do not exploit two sources of information generated during the search: the l...

A planner for car-like vehicles with reverse gear in which every iterate of the optimisation phase satisfies the discretised dynamics exactly and keeps the whole vehicle rectangle clear of obstacles between the samples.
A unified algorithm is presented, which is term flatness-based geometric control (FGC), that generates the DFBC reference hierarchy directly from a GVF and its higher-order time derivatives, eliminating the need for a pre-planned time-parameterized trajectory while retaining full dynamics-informed control.

The adaptive rectangular-inflation method improved corridor-construction efficiency in the evaluated static grid environments while generating local reference trajectories with smooth position, velocity, and acceleration profiles.
Formation maintenance with a varying number of drones in narrow environments hinders the convergence of planning to the desired configurations. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a formation planning method guided by Deformable Virtual Structures (DVS) with continuous spatiotemporal transformation. This pap...

Optimization-based trajectory planning is widely used in autonomous driving, yet efficient obstacle avoidance for vehicles with non-negligible dimensions remains challenging. This paper proposes a shrinkable-corridor method within a MINCO-based trajectory optimization framework. The free space is represented by overlap...
