This technique expands the versatility of the suture‐gripping technique for anterior meniscal suturing with improved device handling and secure suture control with a sharper tip and a more rigid shaft that improves reach and trajectory toward the anterior horn and anterior body.
Abstract
Abstract Meniscal preservation is essential for the maintenance of knee function. The suture‐gripping technique, using a suture shuttle, enables accurate needle insertion from inside the joint and flexible withdrawal of the suture from outside the capsule, thereby facilitating meniscal repair of the anterior segment. Using a continuous suturing technique with this method is possible, and we described a modified approach. We recently recognized that ARTHRO‐PIERCE, a device originally designed for hip arthroscopy, can be used to perform the same suture‐gripping technique principles for meniscal repair. The ARTHRO‐PIERCE has a sharper tip—when compared with a suture shuttle holding a suture at its tip—that improves penetration, a more rigid shaft that improves reach and trajectory toward the anterior horn and anterior body, and robust suture grasping without relying on a loop mechanism than a conventional suture shuttle. Here, we describe the step‐by‐step surgical technique. This technique expands the versatility of the suture‐gripping technique for anterior meniscal suturing with improved device handling and secure suture control.
Abstract Meniscal preservation is a priority in the treatment of knee injuries because of the fundamental role of the meniscus in load absorption, joint stability, and chondral protection. Several repair techniques have been described, including inside‐out, outside‐in, and all‐inside approaches. More recently, continuo...

Abstract The maturation of arthroscopic techniques has provided patients with rotator cuff tears a minimally invasive treatment option with favorable outcomes; however, the rate of retear remains high. High‐strength suture tape is widely used in procedures such as knee ligament reconstruction and ankle ligament repair,...
Abstract Rotator cuff repair failure remains a challenging problem, particularly in the setting of poor tendon quality or revision surgery. Patch augmentation has been introduced to reinforce repair constructs and improve healing rates, but many biologic and synthetic materials introduce drawbacks such as inflammatory...

Abstract The purpose of this technical note is to describe a simple and atraumatic loop‐passing technique that facilitates tibial anterolateral ligament (ALL) graft passage in Sonnery‐Cottet combined anterior cruciate ligament and ALL reconstruction. In the Sonnery‐Cottet technique, 2 converging tibial tunnels are crea...
Abstract Medial meniscus posterior root tears disrupt the circumferential load‐transmission function of the meniscus and negatively affect knee biomechanics. This technical note describes a reliable and reproducible arthroscopic repair technique using 2 lasso‐loop sutures and 1 Samsung Medical Center sliding knot throu...

Abstract Meniscofibular ligament (MFL) tears are an under‐recognized source of lateral meniscal instability, frequently encountered in association with anterior cruciate ligament injury. Failure to identify and address MFL insufficiency may result in persistent posterolateral pain and meniscal hypermobility despite suc...
