Abstract

The article is devoted to a fundamental rethinking of the nature of cognition and the educational process in the context of the rapid introduction of digital technologies. The author argues that artificial intelligence and virtual reality should be perceived as an environment that transforms the role of the learner, rather than a tool to replace the human mind. It is shown how the paradigm of knowledge transfer is shifting towards acts of self-determination and semantic construction in the digital space, where data, algorithms and simulations form new cognitive and existential conditions. Then a person becomes not a passive «receiver of information», but an active creative interpreter, capable of reflection, moral choice and the search for truth. Technology’s focus solely on optimizing «a posteriori» experience, that is, on behavioral adaptation, threatens to lose inner freedom and genuine subjectivity in learning. It is concluded that personalized learning using AI and VR may not be a threat, but a unique opportunity to unlock human potential, provided that its anthropological boundaries are recognized and ethical imperatives are strictly followed
