Diplomatic speech in french: teaching guidelines for developing speech skills
Abstract
This paper examines the distinctive features of diplomatic discourse in the French language and highlights their relevance within the teaching and learning process. Particular attention is given to the pragmatic, stylistic, and argumentative dimensions of diplomatic discourse, which are essential for the development of discursive competence. The study proposes a set of pedagogical tools tailored to the needs of students in the field of international relations. These include the analysis of official speeches, reformulation exercises, and simulations of diplomatic dialogue. The methodological framework is based on the qualitative analysis of student performance, combined with the implementation of interactive learning activities. The findings demonstrate the effectiveness of approaches centered on authentic discourse in enhancing both linguistic and pragmatic competencies.
