TL;DR

Findings suggest relative preservation of CPV in MOGAD and support a closer association of CPV enlargement with disease‐related structural changes in MS than in MOGAD.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Choroid plexus volume (CPV) has been proposed as a neuro‐immunological marker of multiple sclerosis (MS), but its relevance in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody–associated disease (MOGAD) remains uncertain. We analyzed CPV in 43 individuals with MOGAD, 48 with MS, and 44 healthy controls using a Bayesian Gaussian mixture modeling applied to 3D‐T1‐weighted‐MRI. Total intracranial volume‐normalized CPV did not differ between MOGAD and healthy controls, whereas the MS demonstrated significantly higher values than both groups (p < 0.001) and showed associations with clinical disability. These findings suggest relative preservation of CPV in MOGAD and support a closer association of CPV enlargement with disease‐related structural changes in MS than in MOGAD.

Choroid Plexus Abnormalities in Autoimmune Encephalitis

ABSTRACT Background Recent evidence suggests that the choroid plexus (ChP) serves as a gateway for neuroinflammation. Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) features a high inflammatory burden, yet the role of ChP in AE remains unclear. This study compared choroid plexus volume (CPV) at symptom onset between AE patients and heal...

MRI-derived choroid plexus volume and longitudinal cognitive decline in Parkinson's disease.

BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-derived choroid plexus (CP) volume has been associated with cognition in Parkinson's disease, but its close relationship with ventricular anatomy complicates interpretation. METHODS We analyzed Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) data. Baseline FreeSurfer-deri...

Regional choroid plexus calcifications and their associations with aging, brain structure, and disease

QSM-derived CPcal is a scalable, radiation-free imaging phenotype that complements volumetry by characterizing calcific CP tissue, which is associated with cardiometabolic health, brain aging, and neurodegenerative risk, particularly in the third ventricle.

Structural and diffusion MRI markers of the choroid plexus and perivascular regions are associated with Alzheimer’s disease pathology and cognition

ChP volume and the DTI-ALPS index are interrelated but non-identical glymphatic-related MRI phenotypes in the AD continuum and were more evident in Aβ-positive than in Aβ-negative participants and were not fully explained by global white-matter microstructural injury.

Preserved neurovascular coupling in early multiple sclerosis is associated with reduced white matter lesion burden

Preserved PCA neurovascular function is associated with lower WM lesion burden, measured using conventional MRI, in MS patients with lower disability and better cognition, a finding that may inform risk stratification and guide future therapeutic targets.

Association of cortical morphological similarity network, choroid plexus volume and glycolipid level changes with cognitive performance in cerebral small vessel disease patients with mild cognitive impairment.

CSVD-related MCI was closely associated with increased ChP volume and MSN disruption and the association between increased ChP volume and decreased global cognitive scores was mediated by the abnormal gradient 2 scores of the limbic network.
