Genome-Wide Characterization of the ScLOR Gene Family in Wild Tomato Solanum lycopersicoides Reveals ScLOR16 as a Negative Regulator of Cold-and Drought-Stress Tolerance
Overall, ScLOR16 is likely involved in the modulation of cold and drought stress responses, and characterizes evolutionary features of the LOR family and provides basic insights for studying stress-adaptation mechanisms in Solanum lycopersicoides.
Abstract
Simple Summary The LOR gene family’s abiotic stress functions are largely unknown in wild tomato. We identified 19 ScLOR genes from stress-tolerant Solanum lycopersicoides and performed comprehensive bioinformatic analyses. Their promoters contain abundant ABA, cold and drought responsive cis-elements. RT-qPCR revealed ScLOR16 was sharply induced by cold and drought. Subcellular localization showed ScLOR16 localizes in the nucleus and cytoplasm. VIGS of ScLOR16 alleviated leaf wilting under cold and drought. Silenced plants had higher SOD/POD activity, more proline and lower TBARS, indicating stronger antioxidant and osmotic protection. Overall, ScLOR16 is likely involved in the modulation of cold and drought stress responses. This work characterizes evolutionary features of the LOR family and provides basic insights for studying stress-adaptation mechanisms in Solanum lycopersicoides.
A genome-wide identification of the wheat AT gene family is performed and a novel TaOBF1B-TaNAAT1 regulatory module associated with salt tolerance is identified, potentially involving metabolic adjustments that await further biochemical characterization.

A comprehensive genome-wide analysis to characterize the 19-member OsDMP family in rice provides a robust framework for understanding OsDMP evolution and expression regulation, revealing transcriptional responsiveness to abiotic stress and providing candidate genes for future functional validation and application in br...
Salt stress severely limits crop growth and productivity, particularly in horticultural crops. Cysteine-rich receptor-like kinases (CRKs) are important membrane-associated signaling proteins involved in plant environmental responses; however, their functions in salt stress adaptation in Solanaceae crops remain limited....

The light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b binding protein (Lhcb) constitutes the antenna system of photosystem II (PSII), which also plays an important role in plant growth and responses to abiotic stress. However, the role of Lhcb genes in cold stress remains poorly characterized in non-heading Chinese cabbage. Here, 25 Bc...
