Wnuan: Staged Post-Training for Question Answering over Proprietary Enterprise Knowledge

Abstract

Enterprise question answering requires models to acquire proprietary knowledge without discarding general capabilities. We present Wnuan, a three-stage pipeline that constructs task-oriented supervision from documents, performs supervised fine-tuning with general-data replay, and applies reinforcement learning to residual errors. On the 707-question WnuanBench, the primary 32B route raises acceptable-answer rate (AAR) from 52.76% before adaptation to 80.06% after SFT and 91.51% after RL. Under a matched 100-update protocol, residual-error sampling outperforms full-pool and size-matched random sampling by 3.11 and 2.97 points, respectively. Source-cluster bootstrap intervals remain above zero for both contrasts, and a same-domain validation set preserves the ordering. The general-benchmark average decreases by 5.17 points across the route, concentrated in instruction following. The automatic evaluation ensemble agrees with an authoritative domain expert on 90.5% of a stratified Wnuan-Inst response sample. These results characterize both the gains and the general-capability cost of staged enterprise adaptation.

Summary of DCASE 2026 Task 5: Audio-Dependent Question Answering

DCASE~2026 Task~5 introduces Audio-Dependent Question Answering (ADQA), which tests whether large audio-language models answer from the audio rather than from textual priors. An Audio-Dependency Filtering (ADF) pipeline combines silent-audio probing, per-option perplexity, a large language model (LLM) commonsense check, and human review to remove items solvable from text alone. The 3000 items that pass form the ADQA-Bench evaluation set, spanning music, speech, and environmental audio. The inaugural edition draws 14 teams and 36 submissions across two tracks defined by total parameter count (up to 100B and under 10B). A Chung-Ang University ensemble of MOSS-Audio-8B-Thinking and Qwen3-Omni-30B reaches the top overall accuracy at \pct{58.33}, and a MOSS-only configuration from the same team leads the sub-10B track at \pct{57.30}. Across the 30 submissions with a comparable development score, evaluation accuracy falls by 11.91 percentage points (pp) on average (median 10.91\,pp) on the hidden evaluation split, which is designed to be harder than the development split. The most common building blocks are: the MOSS-Audio-8B-Thinking backbone (13 of 36 submissions), Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) fine-tuning on AudioMCQ-StrongAC, and preference or reinforcement-learning objectives -- Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) in five teams, Group reward-Decoupled Normalization Policy Optimization (GDPO) in two. At test time, prompt engineering is near-universal, and majority or choice-permutation voting is common. Every system misses the same set of 233 evaluation items.

Overview of FinMMEval 2026 Task 2: Multilingual Financial Short-Answer Question Answering

FinMMEval 2026 Task 2 evaluates short-answer financial question answering over multilingual evidence. Each final-test item pairs an English question with financial statements and news in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and Greek. Participating systems submit one concise answer per item in JSONL format. The final-test set contains 256 items, split evenly between easy and expert tiers; each tier contains four question templates instantiated over 32 company-report groups. Gold answers were withheld during submission, and systems were ranked by macro-averaged item-level ROUGE-1 F1 against organizer-held reference answers. The final leaderboard includes 12 ranked submissions. The strongest systems are closely clustered, with the top four separated by less than one percentage point in ROUGE-1 F1. The submitted system papers document retrieval-augmented generation, cross-lingual evidence handling, structured prompting, answer compression, and validation strategies.

Task-Specific Multimodal Question Answering Agents via Confidence Calibration and Incremental Reasoning for QANTA 2026

We present our submission to the QANTA 2026 shared challenge at the ICML 2026 Workshop on Efficient Multimodal Question Answering (EMM-QA). Quanta evaluates multimodal quizbowl systems that answer pyramid-style questions from incrementally revealed text and accompanying images while operating under realistic efficiency constraints. The challenge consists of two distinct tasks: Tossup questions, which require deciding when to answer under uncertainty, and Bonus questions, which emphasize accurate answer selection and human adoption. To address these differing objectives, we develop a task-specific two-agent architecture. Our Tossup agent utilizes a GPT-4o-mini-class model (referred to as GPT-4.1-mini in the competition logs) with confidence-calibrated answering and a domain-specific numeric reasoning policy that reduces overconfident predictions from isolated quantitative clues. Our Bonus agent uses GPT-4o-class model (referred to as GPT-4.1) with leadin-aware reasoning, structured relational reasoning, and multimodal evidence integration to improve exact answer selection. Rather than relying on a retrieval pipeline or model ensembles, our approach emphasizes efficient reasoning policies and confidence calibration within a hosted-only environment. Our system achieved the highest overall leaderboard score of 0.402, including a Tossup score of 0.238 and a Bonus Effect score of 0.164. The results demonstrate that lightweight, task-specific reasoning strategies can provide strong performance on resource-constrained multimodal question answering benchmarks.
