Morphological, molecular, and pathogenic characterization of Quambalaria cyanescens associated with grapevine trunk decline in Tunisia

Sep 2026 · Euro-Mediterranean Journal for Environmental Integration · Vol 11 · 0 citations · 33 references

TL;DR

The findings demonstrate the pathogenic potential of the Tunisian isolate of Q. cyanescens under experimental conditions and provide the first molecular and pathogenic characterization of this species associated with grapevine trunk decline in Tunisia and, to the authors' knowledge, in North Africa.

Phytopythium helicoides Associated with Root Rot of Sweet Cherry in Chile: Identification, Pathogenicity, and Incidence of Decline Symptoms

Species within the genus Phytopythium have recently been recognized as significant soilborne pathogens impacting various crops globally. However, their occurrence and pathogenicity in sweet cherry (Prunus avium) have not been studied in Chile before. This study aimed to identify Phytopythium isolates associated with ro...

Identification and biological characterization of Nigrospora sphaerica, the causal agent of jackfruit leaf spot, in China

Biological characterization demonstrated that the pathogen achieved optimal mycelial growth at 28 °C on PDA medium, with maximal mycelial growth obtained at pH 8 and pH 9, which were not significantly different among all tested media; among all tested media, malt extract agar was the optimum medium for mycelial growth.

New Report of Alterneria alternata Causing Leaf Spot Disease on Neolitsea pallens (Lauraceae) in Pakistan

During June–August 2025, necrotic leaf spot symptoms were frequently observed on Neolitsea pallens in the district Swat, Pakistan. The symptoms were found associated with many individual trees, affecting the overall vegetative growth and vigor under field conditions. To determine the causal agent, the fungal pathog...

Morphological, Physiological, Pathogenic, and Molecular Characterization of Colletotrichum coccodes Isolates Associated with Potato Black Dot

Findings provide a comprehensive characterization of the collection of C. coccodes isolates from Russia and show that substantial phenotypic variation within the collection was accompanied by limited sequence variation in the analyzed loci, while representatives of two multilocus haplotypes remained highly similar at t...

Diversity and pathogenicity of emerging and novel Paramicrosphaeropsis species associated with olive canker and dieback

Olive (Olea europaea L.) is an economically and ecologically important crop that is increasingly threatened by trunk diseases such as canker and dieback. This study investigated the occurrence, taxonomy, and pathogenicity of Paramicrosphaeropsis species associated with these diseases in Fars Province, Iran. A total of...
