TL;DR

The triglyceride‐glucose (TyG) index has shown predictive value for Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular events (CVEs) in the general population, but its utility in PWH remains unclear.

Abstract

People living with HIV (PWH) are at increased risk for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. However, there is no structured prevention strategy for these subjects. The triglyceride‐glucose (TyG) index has shown predictive value for Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular events (CVEs) in the general population, but its utility in PWH remains unclear.

The Association Between Atherogenic Index of Plasma and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in a Multi‐Ethnic Population of Premature Coronary Artery Disease Patients: Insights From IPAD Study

The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) is a lipid‐based indicator of cardiometabolic risk. We examined whether AIP is associated with prevalent type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and fasting blood sugar (FBS) in patients with premature coronary artery disease (PCAD) and explored whether this association differed across Ira...

Free Fatty Acids and Sarcopenia Risk in Type 2 Diabetes: Insights From SHAP Analysis

Sarcopenia is a prevalent and disabling complication of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), which significantly elevates the risks of falls, fractures, institutionalization, and all‐cause mortality. Lipotoxicity mediated by circulating free fatty acids (FFA) is crucial in the pathogenesis of diabetes‐related sarcopenia, b...

The C-Reactive Protein-Triglyceride Glucose Index and Incidence of Cardiovascular Disease Among Individuals with Hypertension: A Nationwide Prospective Cohort Study.

Background The C-reactive protein-triglyceride glucose index (CTI) has recently been introduced as a novel composite biomarker that integrates inflammation and insulin resistance. However, the association between CTI and incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) in individuals with hypertension remains unclear. Methods W...

Depression and Long‐Term HbA1c Variability Are Additively Associated With Increased Risk of Cardiovascular–Renal Outcomes, Severe Hypoglycaemia and Mortality in Type‐2 Diabetes

Depression and long‐term HbA1c variability are associated with adverse outcomes in type‐2 diabetes (T2D), which may be related to suboptimal self‐management practices and health‐related quality of life (HRQoL).

The additive value of coronary calcium in identifying cardiovascular risk in ageing people with HIV.

In people without HIV, raised coronary artery calcium scores (CACS) are linked to increased cardiovascular risk. HIV is associated with elevated CACS, but risk factors beyond smoking and diabetes are not well established. Data on 779 individuals with HIV who underwent a CACS scans (median age 55) were collected. CACS b...
