This study presents a scoping review on Building Information Modeling (BIM), focusing on its applications in the construction industry. The methodology comprised five stages: formulation of search terms, data collection in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, selection of documents, reading and categorization of the material, and critical content analysis. The initial search retrieved 6,945 articles, of which 4,884 remained after duplicate removal, and 39 were analyzed in depth. The results show that BIM is defined both as a technological tool for project coordination and simulation and as a digital infrastructure for governance, sustainability, and integration with emerging technologies. Its applications include project management, interdisciplinary coordination, modular construction, public infrastructure, education, and sustainability practices, as well as its role in driving the digital transformation of the AEC industry. It is concluded that BIM goes beyond modeling and consolidates itself as an expanding collaborative process, capable of integrating different dimensions of the building life cycle and becoming a strategic instrument for innovation, efficiency, and decision-making in contemporary construction.
A three-tiered strategic roadmap is proposed, targeting policy, industry, and academia, to accelerate digital transformation and innovation in Morocco’s construction sector.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a powerful concept in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry that helps in project coordination, information sharing and collaboration among professionals involved in the building construction. Developed countries like the United Kingdom, Singapore and the U...

Inefficiencies characterise the Nigerian construction sector, with more than 60% of projects being delayed and cost overruns of around 20%-30%. Some of the causes include lack of effective collaboration among stakeholders, utilisation of manual 2-dimensional drawings, and poor digitisation. Building Information Modelli...
