Abstract
The resources of rice germplasm are diverse in genetics and can provide the basis for new varieties. Systematically study the genetic diversity of yield, growth period and plant architecture traits in this paper to determine how distributed the phenotypic coefficient of variation, genetic diversity index and heritability are among various germplasm types and areas. Landraces have a relatively large number of different flag leaves and are generally taller than modern varieties, but they have fewer varieties of growth period and effective panicles. The coefficient of variation of empty grains is 89.75%, and the genetic diversity index for heading date is 2.069; thus, it is highly selected. More than 45% of the excellent haplotypes come from landraces, so traditional varieties need to be preserved and developed. There are three kinds of breeding and utilisation paths, in addition to direct application, parent selection and gene mining; in conjunction with pan-genomics and GWAS, a new model for precise characterisation and intelligent design breeding is being explored. This paper hopes to offer some references for the use and improvement of germplasm resources.
Introduction Neglected and underutilized crops have great potential to diversify agroecosystems and human diets but require genetic improvement to make them economically viable alternatives to major crops. Common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) is valued for its excellent nutritional quality, its ecological imp...

To comprehensively evaluate 212 tomato accessions and gain an in-depth understanding of their genetic background, 17 major agronomic traits were assessed, and whole-genome resequencing was performed on all materials. The results indicated that the genetic diversity of quantitative traits was abundant, with the genetic...
The narrow genetic base of cultivated rice necessitates the identification of diverse germplasm accessions possessing superior agronomic performance and enhanced nutritional quality. The present study aimed to assess the phenotypic and genetic diversity among a subset of 300 rice germplasm accessions and identify elite...

Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the most economically and nutritionally significant cereal crops globally, yet its productivity in India remains considerably below the world average, necessitating systematic genetic improvement through the exploitation of available germplasm diversity. The present study was undertaken to...

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the most important horticultural crops in the world, but its production continually grapples with difficulty of improving yield without compromising fruit quality. To achieve, this balance requires breeders to make full use of the wide genetic diversity present in cultivated v...

Although the analysis of genetic variability, trait associations, genetic parameters and variance components is a prerequisite for designing efficient breeding programmes strategies, very limited research has been conducted on broomcorn. Hence, a total of four broomcorn male‐sterile lines and 24 broomcorn restorer li...
