TL;DR
There was little correlation between AI use and job satisfaction and between AI use and reported changes in productivity, and more significant relationships were found among indicators of organizational targets, promotion, and AI tool use and task automation.
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taking the HR industry by storm, reshaping the HR workflow, tasks of the HR team, and decisions. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the use of AI and responses to employee engagement, workforce productivity and strategic decision making outcomes with the help of cross sectional analytical study with quantitative approach. The analysis included 30,000 employee observations and AI adoption, usage, task automation, and AI time savings were assessed. Job satisfaction was used as the main measure of employee engagement, and productivity change was used as the primary measure of outcome of the workforce productivity. Promotion and organizational target indicators were explored as indicators for strategic decision making. Descriptive statistics, association tests, correlation analysis and regression techniques were used. Results showed that there was little correlation between AI use and job satisfaction and between AI use and reported changes in productivity. In contrast, more significant relationships were found among indicators of organizational targets, promotion, and AI tool use and task automation. The results suggest that while enhanced usage of AI can potentially have no impact on engagement or productivity, the strategic integration of AI could offer more value in data-driven workforce and organizational decisions.
